ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Jacqui and I'm an author, mother, wife, teacher and traveller.
Writing has been my life for as long as I can remember. Like many authors, a love of books inspired me to start writing my own stories when I was little.
Later I won the Mary Grant Bruce Short Story Award for Children's Literature which gave me the confidence to enrol in a Bachelor of Arts (Professional Writing).
I've written many articles for local and National news outlets. I also wrote and recorded an interview with Dr Robyn Williams on the rare desert tree, Acacia Peuce, for Radio National.
In 2020 I published my debut novel, a historical fiction book called 'The Sentinel'.
I am releasing my newest book, the travel memoir, 'Pure Life', a chapter a week through my newsletter. It's a new way of publishing but I'm excited to explore innovative ways of communicating directly with readers. I chose Substack because of its reputation for supporting writers, and for the amazing access to incredible authors who are already using the app. You can sign up for my newsletter at www.substack.com/@jacquihodder
I'm a member of the Peninsula Writer's Club, Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.
I was recently shortlisted for the Mornington Peninsula Mayor's Short Story Writing Award.

I live on the Mornington Peninsula near Melbourne where I love spending time with my gorgeous children and husband, golden retriever and pocket kitten.
